Guided Village Tour by Ox Cart

The last remaining Tharu settlement the Tharu are the indigenous people of the Chitwan valley. Prior to the USAID sponsored malaria eradication campaign in the fifties , for twelve hundred years they were the only people able to live in the heavily forested Terai belt, due to their resistance to malaria. Their way of life differs widely from that of the immigrants from the hills and remains the same today as it was hundred years ago.
